The Volkswagen-Arena is the largest sports venue in Wolfsburg. It has a capacity of 30 000 and it is the home of VfL Wolfsburg. The club used to play at the VfL-Stadion am Elsterweg before they moved to the modern Volkswagen-Arena in 2002. VfL-Stadion am Elsterweg had a capacity of 17 000 when VfL Wolfsburg left it. The main sponsor of the stadium, Volkswagen, have their headquarters in Wolfsburg. It is currently the largest car company in Europe. Wolfsburg is a very young city, founded in 1938. It was planned by the Nazis in order to build a town for the workers of the Volkswagen factories.
