The Rewirpowerstadion, also known as the Ruhrstadion, is a football stadium in Bochum. It has a capacity of 31 000, making it the largest sports venue in Bochum. The original structure was built in 1919. It is the home of football club VfL Bochum and it is located at the Castroper Straße, northeast of the city centre of Bochum, where VfL Bochum and its predecessors have staged their home matches since 1911. The current stadium was built between March 1976 and July 1979 and the first game was played between VfL Bochum and SG Wattenscheid 09 in July 1979. The original capacity was over 50 000, but it was decreased by numerous modifications.
